Oman’s Asyad Shipping has opened its first international office in Singapore to expand the business portfolio into the Asian market and serve the increasing demand from customers in the region
The company, which operates a fleet of more than 70 vessels including VLCCs, product tankers, chemical, ore, dry bulk, gas carriers and regional container line services with tonnage totalling over 8M dwt, believes establishing a presence in Asia will afford it the chance to gain a wider reach to prospective clients in Japan, China, South Korea and other liner and logistics companies with the added benefit of working in the same time zone.
Earlier this year, Asyad commissioned a new container line that connects Oman directly to Singapore and Malaysia to increase trade relations with Asian countries and to provide Omani traders with better access to Singapore as an international distribution hub.
Asyad Shipping & Asyad Drydock chief executive Ibrahim Al-Nadhairi said, “Establishing our presence in Asia will play a crucial role in driving future growth. We see plenty of expansion opportunities in this region and now is the right time to enter the market with greater force. Our Singapore office represents our commitment to bringing the very best of Asyad Shipping to our clients, Asian shipyards and other liner companies.”
The move also facilitates Asyad’s fleet expansion through chartering in more vessels from increased interactions with major Asian clients.
