Currently under construction and due to be delivered next year is Jascon 18, a sophisticated DP 3 class pipelay and crane vessel for Sea Trucks Group. The newbuild is under construction at Nantong shipyard in China and was designed by Norwegian naval architect Vik-Sandvik based on a concept developed by Sea Trucks.
Jascon 18 will be 150m long with a beam of 37m and a depth of 15m and will have a 12 knot transit speed. The vessel will be marketed worldwide, and will have a pipelay system, based on S-lay configuration, arranged below deck along the centreline.
Jascon 18’s 300 tonne tension lay capacity can be upgraded to 600 tonnes to enable the vessel to lay pipe in over 2,500m of water, and a large unobstructed open deck will ensure that there is plenty of pipe storage capacity.
The ship’s main crane will have a capacity of 900 tonnes/1,200 tonnes to support a variety of construction and installation activities in deep and shallow water.
Accommodation for 400 will be provided, which will enable Jascon 18 to perform hook-up and commissioning work.OSJ
