As part of a fleet expansion programme, Promar Shipping has ordered a pair of Damen PSV 3300s for delivery next year. The two vessels, which are detailed on the Swiss owner’s website as Mamola Reliance and Mamola Defender, will be constructed at Damen’s Galati yard in Romania. They are slated for handover in February and August respectively and are planned for employment in the West African sector.
Commenting on why the company chose a Damen vessel, Olivier Meynis de Paulin, chartering supervisor, says, “The PSV 3300 is at the forefront of technology in terms of equipment, being modern and reliable. These ships are built in line with North Sea standards.”
With a length of 80.1m and deadweight of 3,300 tonnes, the two ships are in the small to medium size segment of the PSV market. Within the Damen PSV range of offerings, there are two smaller designs and three larger, spanning a deadweight capacity of 1,600 to 6,000 tonnes. All of the designs feature Damen’s distinctive slender hull profile. Six sister vessels are in operation with World Wide Supply.
The ships have a cargo deck area of 720m2 and a deck load capacity of 1,520 tonnes. They can accommodate 16 crew members and the same number of passengers. The vessels also feature fire-fighting equipment with a capacity to spray 2,400m³ of water per hour.
The machinery also comprises two CAT 3512C gensets with a power output of 1,352 kWe each and two CAT C32 generator sets with a power output of 994 kWe each. Propulsion is provided by a pair of azimuth thrusters with two tunnel thrusters allowing for manoeuvrability. OSJ
