GEOS adds work for three PSVs
Norwegian offshore vessel owner Golden Energy Offshore Services (GEOS) has entered into a contract with an unnamed "leading international oil company" for Energy Passion. The contract has a duration of one year, as well as an option that can provide a one-year extension.
The firm also won a contract for Energy Paradise for six months, with the possibility of a six-month extension. The contracts relate to work in the North Sea, which is scheduled to begin in March or April 2024.
The gross value of the contract is US$14.0M, fixed, and an additional US$15.8M in options.
"This contract is proof of the robustness of the current charter market, with fixed earnings that provide attractive repayment periods for the new vessels, Golden Energy Offshore Services chief executive Per Ivar Fagervoll said in a statement.
"These contracts join the series of strong events in recent months, and we are now more optimistic than ever. We are moving into a super cycle, and are well equipped to ride it," he said.
GEOS has also won a contract extension for 2005-built PSV Energy Swan from Repsol Norge. The contract extension is for a firm period of one year with one year in options.
Equinor awards ’large’ contract to DOF Group AHTS
Norway’s DOF Group has won a large contract with Equinor Energy for anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel Skandi Iceman. The award means DOF Group will have two anchor handlers supporting Equinor’s Norwegian operations until at least 2027 with Skandi Vega having been on charter to Equinor since its delivery in 2010. The contract also includes ROV services provided by the DOF Group. The new contract will begin in Q2 2024 with one firm three-year period and three one-year options and is valued, in DOF terminology, at between Nkr500M-NOK1Bn (~US$50M-US$100M).
DOF Group chief executive Mons Aase said, “This award demonstrates the performance of our anchor handling vessels and our crews. We are very happy to see Equinor selecting DOF for another long-term AHTS contract.”
DOF has also announced a ’substantial’ contract of between US$25M-US$50M for PSV Skandi Kvitsøy.
"The vessel will work in Australian waters and further strengthen the DOF Group’s presence in Australia. Commencement will be Q1 2024 with two years firm and two one-year options," according to DOF Group.
Siem Offshore vessel wins survey charter
Norway-based Siem Offshore has entered into a one-year firm contract plus a one-year option for the offshore subsea construction vessel Siem Spearfish with US-headquartered marine geophysical service provider PXGEO. The vessel will be engaged within the marine geophysical segment and support the charterer’s operations worldwide, according to Siem Offshore.
Siem Spearfish will start its new charter upon completion of the current class renewal mid-February 2024. No financial details were released regarding the contract award.
Petrobras awards seismic survey
Brazilian oil and gas giant Petrobras has awarded Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) a contract for a "fully prefunded multi-client survey" offshore Brazil.
The seismic survey is expected to start in late March or early April 2024. The total contract value is approximately US$12M.
EMGS chief executive Bjørn Petter Lindhom said, "We are delighted to return to Brazil for EMGS’ first acquisition project offshore Brazil in almost 10 years. As 2023 marked a year with little acquisition activity for EMGS, we are very pleased and encouraged by a notable increase in the number of active and mature customer discussions for acquisition projects in 2024. Based on these early signals, we are optimistic that 2024 will be a good and active year for EMGS. In addition to this project offshore Brazil, we currently expect there will be several acquisition projects on the Norwegian Continental Shelf this year."
DDW Offshore lands AHTS contract extension in Australia
UK-headquartered energy services company Petrofac has awarded Norway-based DDW Offshore a nine-month extension of an existing AHTS contract in Australia.
According to the company, AHTS Skandi Emerald will replace Skandi Atlantic in March 2024. The contract runs until the end of 2024.
Skandi Emerald will continue to support the disconnection of the FPSO Northern Endeavour and assist towing and well isolation work on the Laminaria Corallina oil fields in the West Timor Sea. After demobilisation in March, Skandi Atlantic will undergo its special survey for class renewal in Singapore and is expected to be available for a new contract by the end of April 2024.
Viking Supply sells out of PSV segment
Swedish OSV shipowner Viking Supply Ships (VSS) has sold its stake in the two platform supply vessels in which it held interests. VSS terminated its management agreements on the two, 2021-built vessels Cooper Viking and Coey Viking, executing a ’put option’ on the shares in the vessels’ ownership companies.
"The put option is regulated in the shareholders agreement between Viking Supply Ships and the company managed by Borealis Maritime, and the shares will be sold based on the market price of the two PSVs to be decided by two designated shipbrokers," the company said.
VSS said it expects to book a gain of approximately US$8.5M and a cash release of approximately US$17.5M. The transaction is expected to close by Q2 2024.
