The developers of the Hai Long offshore wind project in Taiwan have confirmed they have signed a contract with Seaway 7 to transport and install the cables for the windfarm
The contract award completes key procurements for the project, which is now steadily moving into the construction phase.
A signing ceremony took place 21 February 2023 at Hai Long’s offices in Taipei. It follows a contract signing which was announced to the market 14 February 2023.
The scope of work includes the transport and installation of inner-array cables, cable protection systems and four export cables. The export cables will connect the offshore substation to the onshore substation using horizontal directional drilling.
Cable installation will be carried out by the cable-lay vessel Maersk Connector, which is on long-term charter to Seaway 7, expanding the capacity of Seaway 7’s cable-lay fleet.
Execution of the scope will be led from Seaway7’s Taipei office in Taiwan.
The project remains subject to a final investment decision.
