ScottishPower Renewables and BOW Terminal Vlissingen in The Netherlands have signed an agreement for the terminal to act as the marshalling yard for the foundations for the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm in the UK.
The deal relates to the provision of 12-14 hectares of land to store foundations for the windfarm, including 102 jackets and 306 pin piles weighing 900 tonnes and 220 tonnes, respectively. Apart from the provision of the storage area, BOW Terminal will also co-ordinate and execute all horizontal and vertical transport of the jackets and pin piles at the terminal. Works will commence in the second half of 2017.
ScottishPower Renewables project director for East Anglia ONE Charlie Jordan said: “BOW Terminal best matched the requirements for East Anglia ONE, and we look forward to work commencing later this year. This contract complements the work we have already confirmed in the ports at Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth, Hull and Belfast. East Anglia ONE is progressing well, with a wide range of large contracts now in place, and onshore work due to commence in the near future.”
