Nicola Offshore GmbH, a new company specialising in marine survey campaigns and ‘on-demand’ projects in Europe has started operations from its headquarters in Hamburg
Nicola Offshore was established to provide a specialist marine surveying capability, including underwater object detection, unexploded ordinance and subsea cable investigations, as well as pre- and post-dredging reports.
The company is a joint venture between Nicola Engineering GmbH, a German marine survey provider with over 40 years’ experience and ProMarine BV, a Dutch workboat manufacturer.
Focusing on meeting the needs of offshore oil and gas and renewable energy clients, Nicola Offshore has developed a marine data acquisition platform based on ProMarine fast workboats fitted with an integrated hydrographic survey system from marine data acquisition specialist Subsea Europe Services.
Nicola Engineering chief executive Andres Nicola said, “We have noticed a significant upturn in requests for unplanned multibeam echo sounder-based surveys, especially around offshore windfarms.
“We are confident that establishing a team to specialise in producing high-quality data in these challenging conditions will meet clients’ specialised needs.”
Nicola Offshore managing director Daniel Esser said the company is responding to a need for speed, agility and high-quality data, meeting strict deadlines, often under extreme conditions.
ProMarine chief executive Dick Duin said the combination of fast vessels and high-tech survey technology enables Nicola Offshore to undertake ‘gap-filler’ surveys quickly and effectively. “We are looking forward to saying ‘yes’ to the jobs that many would decline and are confident that our team, equipment and methods will deliver the results our clients demand,” he said.
