Following 15 months of operation, Norden has moved ahead with the closure of its Greek office
The Denmark-headquartered company said in a statement sent to Riviera that it “has decided to move away from a standalone period setup and instead integrate period responsibilities more closely into our existing chartering teams.”
“As part of this strategic adjustment, we have decided to close the Norden office in Greece,” the company added.
However, Norden stressed that the decision “does not affect our ongoing commitment to serving our customers and partners in Greece, and we will continue to support them through our long-established local relationships.”
George Daskalakis, who led the Greek office, announced his departure via social media, citing Norden’s decision to consolidate period time charter responsibilities within its spot desks in Copenhagen and Singapore.
Back in January 2025, when Norden launched the office, the company described the move as a milestone amid continued growth.
Norden this week raised its full-year net profit guidance to US$70-140M, up from US$30-100M, on the back of additional vessel sales and a stronger tanker market.
“The tanker market strengthened towards the end of the quarter, with spot rates surging due to significant disruption to global oil flows linked to the conflict in Iran,” Norden chief executive Jan Rindbo commented.
The company operates its bulk carrier and product tanker fleet through 17 offices worldwide, according to information on its website.
