MMC Ship Design in Poland has unveiled a new service operation vessel (SOV) design it has developed
The MMC 980 SBC is intended as reliable platform for windfarm support operations and was designed to have the lowest possible environmental footprint, a high level of redundancy and safety in operation, and optimal seakeeping behaviour and performance in various modes of operation.
The vessel has a length overall of 84 m, breadth of 19.0 m and is intended to provide accommodation for a 90 people in single cabins.
It has a large deck area that can house 12 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), warehouse area for nine TEU with a skidding system, and an optional helideck.
The vessel will be fitted with a walk-to-work motion-compensated gangway and a 3D motion-compensated knuckleboom crane.
The DP2 dynamic positioning vessel will have four medium-speed gensets and a suite of thrusters for high levels of manoeuvrability.
