A Sanmar delivery team sailed Bo on its maiden voyage from Turkey to Brunsbüttel, Germany to hand it over to operator H Schramm Towage
Built to TRAktor-Z 2500SX design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd with 75 tonnes of bollard pull and a free running speed of 12 knots, Bo has an overall length of 25 m, a moulded beam of 12 m, two high-speed, electronically controlled Cat 3516C HD engines and a FiFi1 fire-fighting system.
It was designed for escort, shiphandling and terminal support duties, and was known during its construction at Sanmar’s Altinova Shipyard as Deliçay XlV.
H Schramm Towage mainly operates at the intersection of the Kiel Canal, river Elbe and North Sea, and the Baltic Sea.
Bo is the sixth tugboat Sanmar has delivered to Schramm. It joins Corvin, a 45-tonne bollard-pull twin screw tug delivered in 2005, Torsten a flat-top Navtug delivered in 2012, and Sonke, a 71-tonne bollard pull azimuth tractor tugboat delivered in 2020.
“Our Deliçay range continues to be extremely popular among operators and is evolving all the time to utilise latest technologies and meet individual operator’s specific needs,” said Sanmar Shipyards corporate strategy director Ipek Gurun.
“We worked closely with H Schramm Towage throughout the development of this project. Our delivery team took Bo to Germany. This underlines we at Sanmar are with owners all the way from the drawing board to the delivery of a new tug.”
