Purus Marine has acquired HST Marine, a UK-based provider of crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to the offshore wind industry
HST Marine’s fleet of CTVs includes one of the industry’s first battery-hybrid units, Chartwell-designed HST Ella.
Post-acquisition, Purus Wind, the company’s offshore wind business, will employ approximately 100 people in the UK and Norway with extensive engineering, vessel management and chartering expertise.
Purus Marine describes itself as "a maritime holding company that owns environmentally advanced vessels and infrastructure equipment." Purus Wind will offer its customers battery-hybrid CTVs, battery-hybrid commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs), inspection drones and other services.
Purus Marine chief executive Julian Proctor said, “With the acquisition of HST Marine, Purus Wind is well positioned to be a leader in providing integrated CSOV and CTV offshore wind support solutions.
“Our platform allows us to offer more products to our offshore wind customers and to cover them globally, allowing us to build deeper industry relationships,” said Purus Marine senior advisor and board member Svein Engh.
HST Marine chief executive Tom Nevin said the company was “delighted to find a partner in Purus, who share its strong commitment to providing low-carbon solutions for offshore windfarms” that is also “well positioned to support growth.”
In July 2021, Purus Marine, said it had agreed to acquire a large service operation vessel that was under construction and due to be delivered into a multi-year time charter with a leading European renewable energy company.
