Vane Brothers has ordered four pusher tugs from Chesapeake Shipbuilding to bolster its North American fleet. These will be built to the latest US Coast Guard standards and requirements at the shipyard in Salisbury, Maryland.
These 28.5 m sister vessels will have 2,240 kW and accommodation for seven seafarers. Chesapeake has designed the tugs to have a 10.4 m beam and 3.2 m depth.
Vane Brothers’ latest pusher tugs will be equipped with twin Caterpillar 3512 main engines, conventional shafts, rudders and flanking rudders.
Chesapeake has built almost 20 tugs for Vane Brothers. Its Salisbury shipyard has three-level construction and launch systems, two outfitting basins and hull fabrication buildings.
