Per Aarsleff in Denmark and Bilfinger Berger from Germany have entered into a contract with Sund & Bælt Holding to build the foundations for seven offshore wind turbines north of the island of Sprogø. The contract consists of production and positioning of seven foundations, ballasted and placed on the seabed in depths up to 17m.
The foundations are to be cast in Swinoujscie, Poland where Aarsleff and Bilfinger Berger have already set up production facilities and begun casting the 90 foundations, which are to be installed at the Rødsand 2 Offshore Wind Farm south of Lolland later this year. Installation of the foundations north of Sprogø was due to begin this summer and be completed in September.
The small offshore windfarm will be a showcase for Danish wind turbine technology – both for the 25 million people who cross the Great Belt Link each year and for the UN Conference on Climate Change, which is to be held in Denmark at the end of 2009. OSJ
