Wison New Energies has confirmed that its proprietary floating offshore wind turbine concept, the ‘w.semi,’ has been granted a US patent (Patent No. 12,606,278 B2)
The w.semi is a modular, semi-submersible intended for mass production and assembly in water at a yard close to an offshore windfarm. The patent is the company’s first US patent in the floating wind sector.
“With its shallow draft design and ability to support large turbines, the concept is well suited for emerging floating wind markets, including the Mediterranean and the North Sea,” said Wison.
Wison has been investing in floating offshore wind concepts, building a diversified portfolio that now includes the w.semi, w.semi-c, w.TLP, w.BT and w.OOS.
The company said the US patent “further underscores Wison’s long-term commitment to floating wind innovation and clean energy development.”
