Maritime Air Pollution Europe 2020
In October 2020 our conference programme moved online, allowing our global communities to continue to connect, network and gather knowledge. Our virtual conferences offer ample opportunity to participate in live sessions, to arrange meetings and network, whilst also allowing attendees to keep on top of their daily routine, and still have some personal time.
This year’s conference brought key industry players together to learn from industry peers, discuss issues relevant to IMO 2020 and the challenges that lie ahead, and to connect and network online for the first time. Succinct presentations were delivered to our virtual audience in concise clear segments affording ample time to connect and engage with fellow attendees, expert speakers and industry partners.

SESSION 1: IMO 2020 Implementation in Europe
Recent experiences in the supply chain, lessons learnt, and best practice for achieving compliance. Up-to-the-minute views on IMO 2020, the regulatory route map, and the impact of COVID-19.
SESSION 2: Managing Maritime Air Pollution & GHG Emissions
Update on future IMO regulations through different stakeholder perspectives. Future compliance deadlines and an update on emission control areas (ECAs).
SESSION 3: Owners & Operators' Panel Session
A distinguished panel of owners and operators share their viewpoints, hands-on experiences, lessons learnt in operation, and best practice strategies for achieving compliance.
SESSION 4: Future Marine Fuels - The Options
Case studies on the use of alternative marine fuels, offering valuable insights to aid the selection process. Methanol, hydrogen, ammonia, LNG and very low sulphur fuel oil all scrutinised.
SESSION 5: Fuel availability and quality of new products
Addresses key elements to carefully consider when deciding on fuelling fleets - the quality and availability.
SESSION 6: Marine Lubricants and Additives
Experts provide up-to-the-minute views on new and future product developments, product availability and quality, and discuss how the choice of lubricant can be influenced by the use of additives.
SESSION 7: Scrubbers: Recent Industry Developments
Looks at recent industry developments, lessons learnt from hands-on experiences and how the industry is dealing with certain countries’ ban on open-loop scrubber systems.
SESSION 8: Scrubber Installations and Management in Europe
Provides a case study into a recent scrubber retrofit, addresses the demand for scrubber installations and the likelihood of a bottleneck occurring.
SESSION 9: Role of Ports in Decarbonising the Maritime Industry
Shore power connections in port offer the potential to substantially reduce ship emissions depending. This session examines costs, the technology and potential environmental benefits.
