Louisiana-based Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) shared details and a video of one of the newest offshore support vessels to join the US-flag fleet, C-Constructor
Built to ABS class and certified to US Coast Guard Subchapter L (OSV), I (Cargo) and SOLAS, C-Constructor was delivered by ECO’s North American Shipbuilding in June 2021.
C-Constructor is an offshore construction and intervention vessel with an overall length of 95 m, beam of 20 m, depth of 8 m and design draught of 7 m, with a cargo deck area of 771 m2, deck cargo capacity of 3,150 tonnes, and accommodation for 99.
The dynamic positioning class 2-capable vessel has several specialised features, including two Schilling ultra-heavy duty work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), each with its own launch and recovery systems and workshop, a Sikorsky S-92-rated helideck, a main offshore active heave-compensated main crane with a capacity of 150 tonnes and operational depth of 3,000 m and fire-fighting equipment.
Diesel-electric propulsion is supplied by six 1,700-kW generators and two 3,000-kW Schottel SCD 3030 Z-drives. The subsea vessel has a transit speed of 10 knots.
Since it carries a UWILD notation, C-Constructor is certified to allow an underwater inspection to be performed by ROVs or divers in lieu of a drydocking survey.
ECO’s C-Constructor was shortlisted for OSJ’s Annual Offshore Energy Vessel of the Year 2022.
