European Dynamic Positioning Conference 2022

09:00 - 17:00
London

Training. Safety. Technology Innovation

Following a necessary break to our live events, it was a pleasure to welcome the offshore support vessel community back live to London in November 2021 and we are delighted to follow up on that success with the European Dynamic Positioning Conference 2022 on 14 June.

The European Dynamic Positioning conference will review market trends and drivers, innovations in technology, remote trials, future fuels for dynamic positioning (DP) vessels, DP application in the offshore wind sector and training and competency requirements. Industry experts will share their views and experiences in the sector, providing the very latest information to assist you in your DP planning and operations.

This one-day event provides value through the educational and technical content of the programme as well as showcasing the latest advances in technology and innovation.

09:00 Welcome address from Riviera Maritime Media  Edwin Lampert, Executive Editor & Head of Business Relations, Riviera Maritime Media
09:05 Chairman’s welcome address  Dan Endersby, Manager, All Offshore

SESSION 1: INDUSTRY TRENDS, VESSEL DESIGN AND FUTURE FUELS

This session will present a detailed analysis of the dynamic positioning (DP) vessels market, impact of alternative markets on DP vessel requirements and the impact of future fuels on design and operations.

Time Session / Paper Presenters
09:10

Dynamic positioning (DP) market review

  • How some DP operations for offshore wind are different form O&G ops
  • How can DP help to achieve safe execution of specialist offshore wind operations?
  • Target-Less sensor technology that can help achieve efficient and safe offshore wind DP operations
Avinash Hingorani, Product Lead - DP, Wärtsilä
09:50

Green DP operations

Green DP operations, what exactly is green? Is this from a local generation/consumption perspective or from a general one? This presentation will review the operational needs of the different DP operations, based upon these needs, minimization of consumption of energy will start on the energy consumption side. A match should be made with the required DP-footprint, resulting in a certain energy consumption profile. Once the energy consumption is minimized one could optimize the energy generation side. Information upon the “sailing” profile and the corresponding weather conditions will have to be integrated into the system managing the energy generation systems. This presentation will touch upon this “smart” integration of energy consumption systems (like the DP system), and the energy generation systems to further optimize the DP operations. Optimization will be explored within its broadest context, (fuel consumption, emissions, noise/vibrations/comfort)). A part of this “smart” integration has been implemented previously on a real-life project, a part of these results will be shared.
