Robert Day is joining UK-based engineering firm Royston as commercial manager. He will expand Royston’s commercial function through the appointment of a new business development role and two account managers focused on services and spares for marine diesel-driven equipment. He will also be responsible for the commercial management of Royston’s approved Volvo Penta dealership, covering engine sales, spares, and service.
Royston has more than 40 years of experience in global diesel engine support and services across the marine, energy, defence, and industrial sectors, with regional offices in Perth, Singapore, and Nigeria.
As part of his new role, Mr Day will take commercial ownership of Royston’s enginei, a modular fuel management product that incorporates a range of tools, including an electronic fuel monitoring system, providing real-time insight into fuel consumption, performance, and emissions.
Mr Day joins Royston from M3 Marine (Offshore Brokers) UK Ltd, where he served as managing director and offshore broker based in London. Before joining M3 Marine Group in 2023, he was head of offshore at UK-based VesselsValue Ltd. Over the years, Mr Day has been a regular participant at the Annual Offshore Support Journal Conference in London, providing data-driven insight on vessel valuations, S&P activity, mergers and acquisitions, and market trends in the offshore support vessel sector.
With operational, technical, and regulatory requirements driving strong demand for marine diesel engine services, Royston chief executive Sarah Wade said Mr Day is the right fit to support the company’s continued global growth.
“We have set ourselves ambitious growth targets over the next three years, and Robert will be at the forefront of driving that performance,” said Ms Wade. “He will be hands-on, leading by example in how we engage with customers, manage relationships, and support customers across their fleets more consistently and proactively.”
Mr Day added: “I’ve spent the last decade building and developing commercial teams, alongside working with data and asset-level insight. That allows us to take a more targeted approach, understanding fleets, identifying where support is needed, and engaging with customers based on real information.”
