Besiktas Shipping has acquired three MR tankers, marking the youngest assets in its fleet
The Turkish shipping company has emerged as the new owner of 2016-built, 49,999-dwt MR tankers PTI Nile and PTI Hudson, which have been renamed Antalya and Amasya, respectively. Both vessels have already been added to Besiktas Shipping’s fleet list on the company’s website.
Shipbrokers reported in late 2025 that the two vessels changed hands en bloc for approximately US$66M. The same reports indicated that the pair was trading with a time charter attached to Trafigura until the end of last year, with a one-year extension option.
Meanwhile, Besiktas Shipping’s updated fleet list also includes another MR tanker, 2015-built, 49,997-dwt Van, formerly known as LVM Warrior. The vessel appeared on shipbrokers’ sales lists last month as having been sold for about US$33M.
The Turkish owner has confirmed that all three tankers are now part of its fleet.
According to Greek shipbrokers, a 10-year-old MR tanker is currently valued at around US$34M, reflecting a 3% increase over the past month and a 6% rise over the last three months.
Based on information published on its website, Besiktas Shipping currently oversees a fleet of 36 vessels, predominantly oil/chemical tankers. The trio of new additions appears to be the youngest vessels in the company’s portfolio. The remainder of the fleet includes two bulk carriers, one container vessel, and one ethylene carrier.
The company describes itself as a third-generation shipping firm within the Besiktas Group, with roots dating back to the 1960s.
