ABS has acquired a consultancy firm to increase its risk management and cyber-security solutions
An affiliate of Houston, US-headquartered ABS has acquired RMC Global to ramp up its provision of cyber security, IT resilience and risk assessment services to multiple industrial sectors.
ABS Consulting will combine RMC’s capabilities with its own services to provide technical solutions for securing IT and operational technology in increasingly complex risk environments with tougher regulatory requirements for cyber resilience.
“Clients are facing increasing operational risk, cyber threats and regulatory pressure,” said ABS chairman and chief executive John McDonald.
“Bringing together the expertise of RMC and ABS Consulting strengthens our ability to deliver even greater services and support for our clients through comprehensive, integrated solutions.”
RMC has experience in critical infrastructure protection and industrial cyber security, while ABS’s expertise focuses on protecting people, assets and maritime and offshore operations worldwide.
“Both are committed to helping protect critical systems, support resilience, and solve complex challenges in environments where the stakes are high,” said Mr McDonald.
Class societies are providing more cyber security, assessment and resilience services after cyber risk management became a mandatory IMO requirement and a unified requirement of the International Association of Classification Societies.
RMC president Vince Kuchar said the acquisition by ABS brings together solutions that “protect critical infrastructure and critical missions, enabling resilience in the face of growing risk.”
ABS Consulting chief executive David Wechsler said, “This acquisition builds on priority areas where we see sustained client demand and long-term growth opportunities.”
