ALP Maritime Services has contracted Pon Holdings’ subsidiary Radio Holland to service and test navigation and communications equipment for its entire fleet
ALP Maritime Services has contracted Pon Holdings’ subsidiary Radio Holland to service and test navigation and communications equipment for its entire fleet.
This agreement will cover managed maintenance and servicing of bridge systems on 10 anchor handling and deepsea towing vessels owned by ALP, a subsidiary of Altera Infrastructure.
Radio Holland has equipped these high-powered oceangoing tugs with navigation and communications equipment since they were either acquired and delivered to ALP, in the past 12 years.
ALP chief operating officer Leo Leusink says this long-term contract will ensure there is a rapid response when servicing is required.
“Our ships sail all over the world. We need a good and reliable partner for our NavCom equipment to help us serve our customers in the oil and gas industry,” he says.
“We chose this contract because we are active in tramping. Our ships go everywhere; we never know exactly which ports they will call at,” Mr Leusink continues.
“As a result, we need a high level and quick response support and maintenance with global coverage.”
This contract includes Ulstein-designed ALP Future-class anchor handling tugs, which have 300 tonnes of bollard pull. ALP Striker, Defender, Sweeper and Keeper were built by Niigata Shipyard in Japan.
In 2014, ALP acquired six anchor-handling tugs, currently known as ALP Ippon, Ace, Forward, Winger, Guard and Centre with bollard pulls of 200-300 tonnes.
