GMT - ONLINESaudi Arabia’s state-run energy group has contracted a joint venture in the country to provide diving support and ROV services for seven years starting in 2027
Saudi Aramco has awarded a contract to a joint venture between Malaysian contractor Vantris Energy (formerly Sapura Energy) and Rawabi Vallianz Offshore Services to provide diving support services and remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROV) under a long-term agreement.
Rawabi Sapura Ltd Co won a seven-year contract to provide diving equipment, divers, diving management and onshore support personnel in Saudi Arabia. This contract will commence on 1 May 2027 and continue until 30 April 2034 and will include underwater inspections, surveys, photography, material testing, structural repairs and related activities.
These services are essential for maintaining and inspecting subsea infrastructure in the ageing Saudi Arabian offshore oil and gas production fields, such as pipelines linking platforms to onshore terminals and inter-field flowlines, umbilicals and communications cables. Protecting these assets will extend the longevity and integrity of Aramco’s production assets in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea.
A fleet of vessels built to support diving and deploy ROVs, operated by the Rawabi joint venture and owned by its two partners, will be used to deliver these services.
Vantris Energy group chief executive Muhammad Zamri Jusoh said securing this seven-year contract from Aramco was “a strategic milestone” for the company. “It validates our growth strategy, which includes expanding our operations and maintenance portfolio beyond Malaysian shores,” he said.
“This is also part of our effort to rebalance our orderbook towards long-term, day-rate-based contracts, helping us build a stronger, more resilient Vantris Energy for the future.”
Rawabi Sapura is a joint venture between Rawabi Vallianz Offshore Services and Sapura Saudi Arabia Co, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sapura Offshore, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Vantris Energy.
Subsea projects and maintenance operations will be discussed at Riviera’s Offshore Support Journal Conference, Middle East being held in Dubai, 9-10 December 2025. Click here for more inforation on this industry-leading event.
