Bisso Marine recently completed a two‐month saturation diving campaign in the Gulf of Mexico. Using its construction barge Bisso Subsea Vision, configured with a 12‐man ABS-classed 300m saturation system, the company undertook a range of subsea infrastructure services including several subsea abandonments in water depths ranging from 91m to 220m.
Other work included a Reverse ‘J’ recovery of several miles of unpiggable 6in pipeline from 122m of water. The 6in pipeline was lifted vertically through one of the moonpools on Bisso Subsea Vision. The pipeline was vented, saw cut and scrapped within an enclosed decommissioning system designed to capture the contents of the pipeline.
The same vessel also recently completed the lay and burial of several miles of bundled pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico in less than 60.9m of water. After the vessel moved on to its next decommissioning assignment, the bundled pipeline tie‐ins were due to be performed using the company’s four-point dive support vessel Joseph Bisso.
The fully classed 12‐man saturation system on Bisso Subsea Vision has a three‐man bell deployed through a moonpool and a side‐launched hyperbaric rescue chamber (HRC). The vessel is configured with two pedestal cranes, the main crane having a 300-tonne capacity and the auxiliary crane having a 60-tonne capacity. The barge also has an eight-point mooring system capable of working in 300m water depths.
