GTT Group subsidiary Ascenz Marorka’s technological evolution in the maritime sector has brought to the forefront significant risks associated with cyber attacks
The safety of individuals, the marine environment and personal data can all be at risk from a cyber attack. Faced with this reality, maritime companies need to adopt proactive protection measures for the safety of their operations.
Type-approval certifies Ascenz Marorka’s portfolio meets the cyber-security challenges of the maritime sector. Data encryption and an ability to isolate the networks are some of the approved functionalities.
Bureau Veritas certification covers Ascenz Marorka’s applications-related requirements included in NR467 Bureau Veritas Rules for the Classification of Steel Ships, NR659 Bureau Veritas Rules on Cyber Security or the Classification of marine units and IACS UR E27 Rev.1 (Sep 2023) Cyber resilience of on-board systems and equipment.
The classification society’s advanced services director Paul Delouche said, “With IACS UR E27 entering into force on 1 July 2024, Ascenz Marorka has successfully anticipated what many vendors will need to accomplish in the coming months: demonstrating their connected products meet, and sometimes even exceed, stringent cyber-security requirements. This certification rewards the exemplary commitment of Ascenz Marorka teams in strengthening its digital solutions and demonstrates Bureau Veritas’ readiness to promote cyber security as a catalyst for digitalisation.”
