Greater levels of vessel optimisation will be unlocked through a strategic partnership between two software developers
Nautilus Labs and OrbitMI will collaborate to merge voyage optimisation with daily reporting to enable shipowners to reduce their fuel consumption and emissions by managing data integration and operational processes.
Vessel owners can access Orbit Reporter, a browser-based tool that standardises reporting structures and templates. Noon reports, arrival and departure, cargo and event reports, and fact statements can be shared easily with any third party and used by Nautilus products.
Nautilus applies information from the Orbit reports and high-frequency sensor data, if available, to its machine learning to provide voyage optimisation. This enables shipowners, operators and managers to route vessels in cost-effective voyages.
“Leveraging Orbit’s solution in combination with high-frequency data, we can quickly integrate to generate value by monitoring the vessel’s performance and optimising its voyages,” said Nautilus Labs chief commercial officer Jan Wilhelmsson.
“The complementary offering provides a full suite of solutions – from noon and claims reporting to machine learning-based boil-off gas optimisation. Digital solutions are the first step toward net zero.”
An application interface enables Nautilus to instantaneously pull reports submitted via Orbit Reporter for machine-learning outputs.
“Nautilus Labs solutions are helping reduce the carbon footprint of ocean shipping,” said OrbitMI chief executive Ali Riaz.
“With each partnership, Orbit breaks down yet one more data silo. This collaboration further extends OrbitMI’s mission to enable intelligent seamless workflows, which are essential for driving profitability and slashing emissions.”
