Cargotec Corporation subsidiary MacGregor has secured an order to supply Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS) with a complete set of remote operated piggy-back hatch covers with hydraulic lifting and an internal traction electric drive system
MacGregor’s agreement includes design, key components and delivery of the hatch covers to the shipbuilder. The order is booked into Cargotec’s Q4 2019 order intake, with planned delivery of the solution set for Q4 in 2020.
MacGregor senior vice president Magnus Sjöberg said ”We are very pleased that FBS has trusted our knowledge and expertise to provide the complete hatch cover solution for its newbuilding project.”
Piggy-back hatch covers are a subcategory of rolling type hatch covers. They are made up of two panels, with one panel being raised high enough for the second to roll underneath and to support the lifted panel on to its back. Both panels can then be rolled back and forth.
