GMT - ONLINENikos Savvas-led Cosmoship Management has reportedly doubled its bulk carrier orderbook, adding another pair of Kamsarmax vessels in China
The Greek owner has emerged as the owner of two 82,000-dwt bulkers under construction at Hengli Shipbuilding, with deliveries scheduled for 2026. Shipbroking sources noted the order was placed earlier this year, with the vessels recently appearing on shipping data platforms.
Following a series of feeder container vessel orders, Cosmoship contracted CMI Qingdao Shipyard around two years ago for two Kamsarmaxes, which are expected to join the fleet towards the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, the company has been active in the secondhand market, expanding its fleet with both container ships and bulk carriers. Riviera has already reported on a three-vessel container ship acquisition, while Equasis data indicates that Cosmoship has also purchased three 2015-built Ultramaxes – Marianna C (ex Kmarin Oslo), Steel C (ex Steel Grace), and Lady (ex Vantage Lady).
In total, Equasis lists Cosmoship with 34 vessels across the container and dry bulk segments.
Wave of Kamsarmax orders
Greek shipowners remain among the most active players in this year’s Kamsarmax newbuilding market, with Hengli Shipbuilding emerging as a key recipient of new contracts.
Efnav, led by Filippos Efstathiou, recently signed for six vessels, following Thanasis Martinos-led Eastern Mediterranean Maritime (Eastmed), which ordered four ships. Meanwhile, Dimitris Procopiou-led Centrofin Management has expanded its Hengli orderbook to eight vessels.
According to Xclusiv Shipbrokers’ latest monthly report, the Panamax/Kamsarmax segment now accounts for 61% of the Greek dry bulk orderbook.
Riviera’s International Bulk Shipping Conference will be held in London on 18 November 2025. Use this link for more information and to register for the event.
