GMT - ONLINEIt is time to nominate candidates for a suite of awards to acknowledge leadership in the towage, port operations and salvage industry
Nominations for the ITS 2026 Awards have opened and readers can suggest potential winners until 4 March 2026.
The ITS Awards recognise outstanding vessels, operators, innovators and professionals that raise the bar for safety, sustainability and operational excellence. Winners will be selected by industry peers and awarded for their meaningful achievements and operational excellence during the gala dinner at the 28th International Tug & Salvage Convention, Exhibition & Awards, to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, 19-21 May 2026.
Seven prestigious awards are open for nomination this year: Innovation of the Year, sponsored by Damen, recognises a product, service or system that has significantly improved a tug design, build and/or operational aspect over the last 12 months.
The Ports & Harbour Award acknowledges a harbour or port that has set industry benchmarks in one or more of the following areas over the last 12 months: safety, security, environment, efficiency and operational excellence.
The Safety Award will be presented to a company, individual, project or product that has made a meaningful impact on safety within the industry – whether in day-to-day tug operations or during salvage work – over the last 12 months. This may include improvements in the safety of life, property or the environment.
Sponsored by Uzmar Shipyard, the Salvage Company of the Year Award will be given to a company that has demonstrated excellence across one or more areas such as successful salvage projects, safety, operations, technical achievement, crewing or training during the past year.
The Tug Owner of the Year Award, sponsored by Med Marine Pilotage & Towage, recognises an owner who has excelled in operational safety, technical performance, environmental stewardship, crewing, training or business development during the last 12 months.
Sponsored by Bureau Veritas, the Tug of the Year Award will honour the owner, designer and builder of a tug delivered within the past year that demonstrated exceptional innovation in design and operational efficiency.
The Special Commendation Award will recognise maritime companies that demonstrate exceptional operational resilience and leadership during periods of significant crisis or challenge.
Finally, the ITS Lifetime Achievement Award 2026, sponsored by Sanmar Shipyards, will be presented during the Gala Dinner to an individual who has made an outstanding and lasting contribution to the international tug and salvage industry over the course of their career.
