Order covers seven 174,000-m³ LNG carriers, with a leadership change and investment also reported
Hanwha Ocean has placed a tank design order covering seven new 174,000-m³ LNG carriers on behalf of a European shipowner, with deliveries expected between 2028 and 2029.
Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) said it received the order in Q4 2025 and will design the vessels’ cryogenic tanks, which will be fitted with its NO96 Super+ membrane containment system.
In a separate announcement, GTT said it received an order in Q4 2025 from HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering for the tank design of a 174,000-m³ LNG carrier to be built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries for shipowner Hyundai Glovis, with delivery scheduled for Q4 2028. The vessel’s tanks will be fitted with its Mark III Flex membrane containment system.
GTT also announced a leadership change, stating that its board had appointed François Michel as chief executive officer, effective 5 January 2026, “thereby restoring a dissociated governance structure”.
GTT-associated company, GTT Strategic Ventures, has announced it has increased its stake in wind-assisted propulsion company bound4blue and now holds “slightly more than 10.5%” of the company’s voting rights.
The fund said the transaction supports bound4blue’s transition to full industrialisation, including expanded production capacity in Spain and China.
GTT head of venture capital Hélène Loncin said, “This follow-on investment reflects our continued confidence in its vision and technology.”
