Industry Leader Award 2023 announced

The Chemical & Product Tanker Awards: Industry Leader Award 2023 is presented to an individual that exemplifies outstanding leadership and Maren Schroeder, who became the managing director of Stolt Tankers in April 2022, will receive the Industry Leader Award in April 2023.

Ms Schroeder represents the new generation of leaders in the shipping industry, having left university in 2004 and entered the industry in the task force department of Germanischer Lloyd. It is a recognition of her managerial talent that has seen her progress to the position of managing director in such a relatively short time.

Ms Schroeder is developing a wider influence over the chemical carrier industry and has become a leading advocate of presenting the chemical and product tanker’s unique situation when it comes to the Carbon Intensity Index (CII). “The sailing pattern of a chemical parcel tanker is far more complex compared with product or oil tankers, and this has not been accounted for in the current CII regulations,” she said in a recent paper.

Also in 2022, Ms Schroeder joined the board of ITOPF Ltd, the organisation operating on a not-for-profit basis that specialises in preparedness for and response to accidental marine spills.

The appointment recognises Ms Schroeder’s extensive experience in the tanker industry and aligns perfectly with Stolt Tankers’ dedication to maintaining safety and environmental excellence. Ms Schroeder will fulfil her ITOPF duties alongside her role at Stolt Tankers.

“I am pleased to be able to contribute to this very important area in my new role as director at ITOPF,” said Ms Schroeder. “Sharing insights from the experience of Stolt Tankers will not only enhance ITOPF’s knowledge of our market segment, but this knowledge will also benefit the wider maritime industry.”
