Concordia Damen Shipbuilding delivered 135-m mineral oil tanker Gambler following successful trials and outfitting in Werkendam
Concordia Damen Shipbuilding (CDS) confirmed the delivery of a CDS Tanker 135 design to Gambler Shipping BV after the vessel passed trials. The tanker was outfitted at the builder’s Werkendam yard with support from long-time outfitter CCM3.
The vessel measured 135 m by 11 m and was designed to carry mineral oils. Propulsion is provided by twin engines with a combined installed power of 1,418 kW and cargo capacity is 4,180 m³.
According to the builder, the design targeted low resistance and an efficient speed-power profile.
Gambler Shipping captain-owner Karel Jan van de Pol said the delivery represented a new chapter for his business and Gambler will now enter service on European inland waterway trades. He added that the yard listened to his requirements on technical matters and accommodation, and stock construction shortened the lead time.
“The collaboration with the yard and CCM3 was smooth, efficient and pleasant, and we are looking forward to the first trips,” he said.
CDS project manager Nico de Bie thanked the owner and partners, stating that each completed delivery strengthened the CDS 135-m series as a reliable, efficient and future-ready design.
Mr de Bie said, “It is rewarding to see another high-quality tanker built in Werkendam now entering service on Europe’s inland waterways.”
