Maersk Offshore Wind took delivery of its newbuild wind turbine installation vessel from builder Seatrium on 26 February 2026
Delivery followed successful completion of sea trials and final readiness evaluations at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard.
The first-of-its-kind wind turbine installation vessel is designed to install wind turbines in the 15 +MW class.
The new vessel, which was recently the subject of a legal dispute between Seatrium and Maersk Offshore Wind, uses an innovative feeder barge concept to deliver wind turbine components to it.
The feeder barge concept improves installation efficiency by extending the installation vessel’s operational weather window, ensuring that the vessel can carry out uninterrupted installation, improving operational efficiency and reducing total cost and time of installation. The feeder-based installation solution is US Jones Act compliant and can also be deployed in other regions.
The vessel is due to sail in March 2026 for its first assignment at the Empire Wind project offshore New York.
