Operator reports 2025 shutdown works and higher send-out, with 9.5Bn m3 per year constant capacity from 2026
Adriatic LNG’s latest operational update links a planned maintenance shutdown to completed works to increase the terminal’s constant regasification capacity, while pointing to higher contracted utilisation through to 2045.
The terminal operator said it injected 8.2Bn m3 of natural gas into Italy’s grid in 2025, covering more than 13% of national gas demand, despite a one-month shutdown dedicated to scheduled maintenance activities and capacity enhancement works.
Adriatic LNG said the terminal received 71 LNG carriers in 2025, “mainly from Qatar and the United States”, with additional cargoes cited from North Africa and South America.
It added that most of the 2025 arrivals were Q-Flex ships, and said the terminal is “the only terminal in Italy capable of receiving this type of vessel”.
On capacity, Adriatic LNG said it has completed the project to increase constant regasification capacity from 9.0Bn m3 per year to 9.5Bn per year, with the higher annual capacity applying from 2026.
It also reported an increase in maximum daily regasification capacity from 26.0M m3 to 28.5M m3 and said the added 0.5Bn m3 per year has “already been fully allocated until December 2045”.
Adriatic LNG director of external relations Alfredo Balena linked the capacity uplift to operational flexibility and terminal utilisation, stating, “The increase in regasification capacity to 9.5Bn m3 per year will allow us to manage with greater flexibility an infrastructure that already records one of the highest utilisation rates in Europe”.
In 2024, Adriatic LNG delivered 8.7Bn m3 into the national transport grid, with 76 LNG carriers berthed, and a stated regasification reliability of 99.7%.
