StratumFive has joined KVH Industries’ community of digitalisation solution providers under its KVH Watch service
This opens voyage informatics to fleets of ships for voyage planning, safer navigation and reducing emissions.
StratumFive’s Podium platform for voyage optimisation and weather routeing solutions will be available through KVH Watch. In addition, StratumFive will offer KVH Watch connectivity to its community of application providers and shipowners.
KVH Watch provides connectivity for internet of things (IoT), vessel monitoring and remote intervention of ship systems over KVH’s VSAT network of Ku-band satellite beams worldwide.
Podium voyage informatics platform holds a series of applications for vessel tracking, routeing, safety, security, fuel consumption monitoring and emissions reduction. The latest of these applications is TX Marine’s suite of machinery monitoring and measurement tools.
“For successful digitalisation, a vessel’s onboard IoT system needs to be connected to Podium and its advanced contextualisation capabilities,” said StratumFive chief operating officer Ross Martin.
“The key to optimisation is getting data ashore to the experts to deliver efficiencies in tracking, routeing, safety, security, fuel consumption and emissions; KVH Watch high-speed connectivity will enable us to provide actionable insights faster.”
Mr Ross said KVH Watch’s remote expert intervention gives it the ability to put a person virtually on the bridge for real-time intervention and troubleshooting.
KVH senior director of IoT business development Sven Brooks expects this combination of Podium applications and dedicated IoT connectivity “to provide the maritime industry with a complete solution for optimising vessel performance.”
TX Marine’s applications on Podium will extend the services available to vessel owners through this connectivity. Its applications are for engine performance monitoring, flow measurement, emissions measurement and condition monitoring. This data is available to configure, contextualise, analyse and help owners to optimise vessel operations and cut emissions.
TX Marine managing director Nadine Paschen expects more shipping companies to use these applications to analyse their shipboard data. “Our experience shows that customers want to invest in monitoring systems to keep an eye on the status on board,” said Ms Paschen.
“This not only includes measurement technology but also the systems that store and analyse the data. We see great potential for co-operation” she added.
Vessel connectivity and voyage information will be discussed during Riviera Maritime Media’s next Vessel Optimisation Webinar Week, 9-12 August - use this link to access more details and to register for these webinars
