Finnish shipping design group Deltamarin has created a virtual showroom to display the latest climate- and environment-related technology developed in partnership with Cargill and BAR Technologies
The new Deltamarin virtual showroom gives potential purchasers the opportunity to test drive BAR Technologies’ WindWings, which are large hard sails that can be fitted on the deck of a ship to harness the power of the wind and reduce the vessel’s fuel consumption and emissions.
Collaborative partner Cargill has been instrumental in providing practical advice on the project.
Deltamarin points out it is important the design of vessel where the sails are fitted takes into account the required characteristics for maximal performance with wind assistance.
The virtual showroom presents WindWings with adjustable features such as the position of the wings and the direction of the wind, allowing the user to explore the principles of how the complete installation works.

Deltamarin is involved in a number of initiatives, including the CHEK project and China Merchants Jinling shipyard (Weihai) Finnlines’ flagship ropax vessels.
