Crowley restructures group into three business units 2

Crowley Maritime Corp has restructured the group into three business units to grow its shipping, fuels, logistics and engineering solutions. It has moved all elements of vessel ownership, operations and management into Crowley Shipping, which will be run by general manager and senior vice president Rob Grune.

Crowley Shipping includes the tug and towage business that involves ship assist and escort services on the West Coast of North America. It also includes offshore support vessels that incorporate its ocean-class tugs, flat deck barge fleet and deepsea petroleum transportation business.

Also in Crowley Shipping is commercial ship management services, three tankers that are in the process of being acquired from SeaRiver Maritime and Crowley’s Commitment-class conro ships that are under construction.

A second business unit, Crowley Fuels, will be managed by senior vice president Rocky Smith and includes Crowley’s LNG sales, distribution and engineering unit, and the company’s fuel sales and distribution business in Alaska.

Senior vice president and general manager Todd Busch will manage Crowley Solutions, which includes engineering and project management services, naval architecture and engineering through subsidiary Jensen Maritime. It will also include government vessel management and a unified government business development team.

A fourth business unit will be created to align Crowley’s liner shipping and logistics business units into a singular supply chain solutions division, to be named Crowley Logistics.

“The alignments within Crowley Shipping and Crowley Fuels better tie our markets, customers, processes and technology together to be more responsive, efficient and cost effective,” said chairman and chief executive Tom Crowley.
