Expanding USV outfit XOCEAN acquires survey company Geomara

The deal follows the investment of €8.0M (US$8.3M) in the company in September 2021 to accelerate XOCEAN’s already rapid growth.

Geomara has been providing advice and surveys to a range of clients in the marine industry including renewable energy developers for 15 years.

XOCEAN is a well-known operator of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), providing services including seabed mapping, inspection of subsea assets and environmental monitoring. 

The Irish company has tripled its headcount to 150 in the last 12 months and plans to grow further to more than 300 over the next 18 months.

XOCEAN uses its proprietary marine robotic technology to collect ocean data sustainably for a range of industries. including offshore wind.

In three years, the company has delivered more than 150 international projects.
