Jens Tommerup, the former chief executive of MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, the joint venture between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Vestas Wind Systems, has joined the board of directors at Global Wind Service.
Mr Tommerup led MHI Vestas Offshoe Wind from 2013 but stepped down in April 2018 in accordance with the joint venture agreement’s principle of appointing a new leader every four years. Previously, Mr Tommerup was president of Vestas Asia Pacific in China. Prior to this, he worked for Hempel Group.
The majority of Global Wind Service is owned by Fred Olsen Windcarrier, a subsidiary of Fred Olsen Ocean Ltd, wholly-owned by the Norwegian stock listed company Bonheur ASA. Mr Tommerup is already engaged as an advisor for companies in the Fred Olsen group.
Global Wind Service chief executive Lars Bo Petersen said, “We are very pleased to have Jens join our board. He has a strong wind industry profile and a thorough understanding of the market. His experience will be very valuable for Global Wind Service and its clients.”
