Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) is investing in a cloud communications platform to manage its operations and streamline IT management in 155 countries
MSC will implement 8x8 Inc’s open communications platform as the shipping industry is forced to work remotely by the global coronavirus pandemic.
This platform includes 8x8 Voice for Microsoft Teams, enabling MSC to connect its 70,000 employees around the globe. This will provide a harmonised approach to systems and software, streamlining IT management and minimising costs, with enterprise-grade telephony capabilities.
8x8’s platform integrates cloud voice, team chat, meetings and contact centre solutions. 8x8 Voice enables employees to connect and collaborate seamlessly using Microsoft Teams with global calling, voice quality and advanced telephony features.
“Streamlining our communications on to a single cloud platform has transformed our business operations, increasing IT efficiency through improved communication across all our offices around the world,” said MSC global chief technology officer Fabio Catassi.
“It provides 15,000 employees with a single, global telephony solution they can use directly from any Microsoft Teams interface, including desktop and mobile apps,” he said.
MSC’s next phase is to deploy 8x8 Contact Centre for more than 2,000 call centre agents worldwide enabling them to collaborate internally and offer an omnichannel experience for customers.
MSC will be able to use 8x8’s centralised administration portal, reporting and analytics capabilities.
8x8 chief executive Vik Verma expects MSC to save significant time and resources as it shifts to one global system for customer engagement, adding that more shipping companies are likely to shift their communications to a cloud platform.
“Global organisations recognise the critical role cloud communications have in accelerating business performance and growth, especially as the digital workplace for a remote and mobile workforce has become a top corporate imperative,” said Mr Verma.
“Enterprises of the scale and stature as MSC are driving success by adopting a single, global open communications platform that provides mix-and-match capabilities and seamless integration with Microsoft Teams,” he said.
