Semco Maritime has entered an agreement to acquire Wind Multiplikator, a German company specialising in managing offshore windfarms and providing engineering and consulting services
The transaction also includes all of the activities of offshore service provider OWS Off-Shore Wind Solutions, which is part of Wind Multiplikator Group.
The Wind Multiplikator Group focuses on offshore wind O&M-related activity including major component exchange and repair. Wind Multiplikator Group has 250 employees based in Bremen and an operations centre in Emden.
The companies said the acquisition “will accelerate the development of Wind Multiplikator Group, significantly strengthen Semco Maritime’s position in the offshore wind service market and help Semco Maritime become a leader in renewable infrastructure projects, and in O&M operations in particular.”
The companies’ service offerings are “highly complementary,” spanning the full range from engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and project management to operational management of offshore windfarms and major component exchange and repair.
The combined service business will have 455 employees operating across the entire offshore wind service value chain.
Semco Maritime chief executive Steen Brødbæk said, “We are excited about this acquisition, the skilled and experienced Wind Multiplikator team, and we look forward to combining our strengths and building a powerhouse in offshore wind service.”
The management of Wind Multiplikator Group will remain in place. Following the transaction, Wind Multiplikator Group will be branded ‘Wind Multiplikator powered by Semco Maritime.’
