Windcat has entrusted Anglo-Eastern with the technical and crew management of its first commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV)
Windcat has ordered six hydrogen-powered Elevation-series CSOVs based on a design from Damen Shipyards. The first vessel in the series is due to be delivered in 2025 and will be built at Ha Long Shipyard in Vietnam.
To significantly reduce the vessels’ environmental footprint, Windcat will use the same dual-fuel hydrogen technology in the Elevation series that is already used on Hydrocat, the world’s first hydrogen-powered crew transfer vessel.
Windcat had already selected AETS, Anglo-Eastern’s technical consulting arm, to oversee construction of the six CSOVs. Now, the vessels will enter Anglo-Eastern’s management upon delivery.
Anglo-Eastern chief executive Bjorn Hojgaard said, “Anglo-Eastern is grateful for the trust placed in us by Windcat to be a part of this innovative project developing the next generation of hydrogen-powered offshore vessels.
“By combining our deep industry knowledge and shared vision for a greener future, we are confident this investment in clean energy technology will pave the way for more environmentally responsible maritime solutions.”
