A Singapore-headquartered crew transfer vessel owner has ordered new assets from shipyards in southeast Asia to meet long-term charters in Brunei as it drydocks existing ships
Fast Offshore Supply (FOS) has secured a long-term contract to provide five crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to transport offshore personnel to production and drilling installations offshore Brunei.
The Singapore-headquartered owner, an associate company of Wintermar Offshore, won the contract to supply five newbuild 55-m CTVs through a tender with operations commencing in 2027. FOS said the five vessels are under construction in Singapore and Batam, Indonesia.
“This new long-term contract provides secure future earnings and fleet renewal for FOS, thereby improving the financial and revenue contribution to the company,” said FOS.
To cover the upfront capex for this contract, Wintermar participated in a rights issue with its shareholders.
In the meantime, FOS has taken delivery of a newbuild CTV and some of its vessels have entered drydock.
A naming ceremony was held in Singapore for FOS Scorpio in October. This 2025-built multipurpose vessel has an overall length of 60 m and a beam of 11 m.
In September, Batamec Shipyard in Batam completed drydocking 2005-built, 57-m multipurpose support vessel FOS Universe for its class certification renewal and engine overhaul. It overhauled four Caterpillar-manufactured Cat 3516 main engines and three Cat 3306 auxiliary engines between July and September.
Batamec completed similar works on 2010-built FOS Gemini in Q1 2025 when it overhauled four Cat 3516 main engines and three Cat C9 auxiliary engines, and now this 60-m vessel is operating in Brunei out of Kuala Belait.
This followed the overhaul and class renewal of 2010-built FOS Orion in November 2024 to January 2025 at Batamec, with this 60-m vessel now back working in Brunei.
