A major owner of offshore drilling rigs and drillships is working with a Norwegian-based technology provider to develop and test technologies to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability in offshore operations
Noble Corp has formed a strategic alliance with Kongsberg Maritime to jointly develop advanced marine technologies for the offshore drilling sector to enhance operational efficiency, risk assessment and sustainability in offshore operations.
Under a long-term framework agreement, both companies will trial innovations with the aim of commercialising them, with the first pilot to be launched later this year on drillship Noble Sam Croft.
It will combine Kongsberg’s marine technology portfolio with Noble’s operational expertise and modern fleet of 21 semi-submersible drilling rigs and drillships. Through this agreement, both companies expect to find synergies to accelerate innovation cycles and deliver solutions that unlock new value for offshore operators.
“We can co-create technologies that not only improve performance and safety but also support the industry’s broader sustainability goals,” said Kongsberg Maritime executive vice president for global customer support Jouni Raatikainen.
“Noble’s progressive approach and openness to innovation makes it an ideal partner for this ambitious journey.”
A spokesman for Kongsberg told Riviera more details would follow covering which innovations would be trialled on drillships and what these aim to achieve.
