Oceania Cruises’ newbuild stands out for its high level of innovation, designed with sustainability in mind
Oceania Cruises – a Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings brand – has taken delivery of Oceania Allura at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard.
With a gross tonnage of approximately 68,000, a length of 246 m and capacity to accommodate 1,200 guests in 600 cabins, Oceania Allura “represents a further step forward in Oceania Cruises’ commitment to an offer that combines elegance, haute cuisine and voyages oriented towards the discovery of different destinations”, according to a statement by Fincantieri.
“The interiors, characterised by refined and welcoming environments, have been designed to ensure the distinctive luxury and intimacy of the brand’s small cruise ships, with a renewed and contemporary design. The new unit also stands out for its high level of innovation, designed with sustainability in mind," the shipbuilding company said.
The cruise ship is the latest unit to join Oceania’s fleet and is the sister ship of Oceania Vista, delivered from the same shipyard in 2023.
As Fincantieri project manager for Oceania Allura, Giuseppe Cusenza previously told PST “The design and construction of Oceania Allura focused on building upon the great success of Oceania Vista, delivered in April 2023. Praised for its elegant spaces and elevated guest experience, Oceania Vista set a strong foundation Oceania Allura now continues – with refined details and thoughtful updates that reflect the future of luxury cruising.”
Chief executive and general manager of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero, president and chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Harry Sommer, and a group of other high-ranking executives from the companies joined to celebrate the vessel’s delivery.
Following on from the two cruise ships it recently ordered, Oceania Cruises said its future expansion plan now includes four "next-generation units", with deliveries expected between 2027 and 2035.
The line’s first ship in its new Sonata class, Oceania Sonata, which will accommodate 1,390 passengers and will be delivered in 2027, is under construction at the Marghera plant. It will be followed by sister ship Oceania Arietta in 2029.
