An unnamed Paraguayan vessel owner has ordered a shallow-draught pusher tug to handle barges along inland waterways
Concordia Damen has secured a contract with an undisclosed Paraguayan vessel owner to build a 41-m pusher tug for delivery in 2027.
This shallow-draught vessel will be built to Concordia Damen’s CDS 4115 design with a beam of 16 m to push up to 12 barges along the 2,695-km Paraguay River.
Its propulsion system will include Caterpillar-manufactured high-speed engines, producing 4,090 kW of power.
The full combination of pusher tug and 12 barges measures 280 m in length and 48 m in width, enabling large-scale cargo transport along the Paraguay-Paraná River system in South America.
Concordia Damen will build this pusher vessel with a draught of less than 1.8 m, enabling year-round navigation along the river system, even when water levels are low in the dry season.
The 28th International Tug & Salvage Convention, Exhibition & Awards will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden, in association with Caterpillar, 19-21 May 2026. Use this link for more details of this industry event and the associated social and networking opportunities.
