AKOFS Offshore has been awarded the long-term charter of a multipurpose service vessel in a Petrobras tender
Subsea well construction and intervention services provider AKOFS Offshore has been selected for an award of long-term charter of a multipurpose service vessel (MPSV) contract by Brazil’s Petrobras. Subject to finalisation, the four-year contract would be worth about US$246M and extend the charter of AKOFS Santos (ex Skandi Santos), one of two AKOFS Offshore high-spec subsea support vessels (SSVs) operating for Petrobras. The contract would start in Q3 2026 and run to Q3 2030.
An STX OSCV 03L design, 2009-built AKOFS Santos has an overall length of 121 m, with DP-3 class capability and can operate as a flexible working platform with a large operational window for subsea well intervention, installation and construction work.
Majority owned by Oslo-listed Akastor ASA, AKOFS Offshore has 157-m SSV AKOFS Wayfarer under charter to Petrobras until Q3 2027. The company’s third vessel, AKOFS Seafarer, is firmly fixed until Q4 2028 to Equinor in Norway.
AKOFS Santos and AKOFS Wayfarer had vessel utilisation rates of 93% and 94%, respectively in Q2 2025, while light well intervention vessel AKOFS Seafarer had a utilisation level of 92%, according to company reporting.
Another OSV owner, DDW Offshore, which is 100% owned by Akastor, confirmed anchor handling tug supply vessel Skandi Peregrino has begun a new charter in Australia in June that will keep it fixed until March 2026. DDW Offshore’s two other AHTSs, Skandi Emerald and Skandi Atlantic, had 100% utilisation in Q2 2025.
