Swedish tanker operator Preem has started using software to optimise tanker route and terminal docking scheduling to reduce emissions and increase ship utilisation
It has installed Seaber.io software to optimally schedule the vessels it charters to transport its refined products and feedstocks.
Preem’s seaborne logistics consists of time-chartered tankers, contract of affreightment and spot contracts.
Sweden’s largest fuel company has production facilities in Lysekil and Gothenburg and ships refined products to international markets, scheduling more than 1,000 voyages annually.
“Optimisation technology will help develop our logistics and shipping operations,” said Preem manager for shipping, supply and trading Daniel Berndolf.
“We are looking to get an extremely fast return on investment that will have a direct impact in reducing our emissions and costs. Software will complement and unite our logistics process by digitalising our schedule planning.”
Finland-headquartered Seaber’s software supports single cargo voyages, multi-parcel, multi-port and ballast voyages and integrates with existing route management and enterprise resource planning programs.
“With the Seaber solution, Preem will optimise its own shipping operations and enable a broader network optimisation including terminals and shipowners,” said Seaber chief executive and co-founder Sebastian Sjöberg.
