New low-emission FPSO named in China and readied for delivery to Mero unitised field in Santos Basin
SBM Offshore held a naming ceremony for the floating production, storage and offloading (FSO) vessel Alexandre de Gusmão for Brazilian oil major Petrobras at COSCO Shipping (Qindao) Offshore.
When it is delivered to Brazil, it will be deployed at the Mero unitised field located in the Santos Basin. Incorporating SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward newbuild, multi-purpose hull, Alexandre de Gusmão will have a processing capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil and 12 million m3 of gas per day, with an estimated greenhouse gas emission intensity within the range of 8-12 kgCO2e/boe.
FPSO Alexandre de Gusmão is owned and operated by affiliated companies of SBM Offshore (55%) and its partners (45%) under a 22.5-year lease and operate contract with Petrobras. The Mero unitized field is operated by Petrobras (38.6%), in partnership with Shell Brasil (19.3%), TotalEnergies (19.3%), CNPC (9.65%), CNOOC (9.65%) and Pré-sal Petróleo S.A. – PPSA (3.5%), representing the Government in the non-contracted area.
