ScottishPower Renewables takes control of MarramWind as Shell exits floating wind market 

The proposed MarramWind offshore windfarm was a 50:50 joint venture project between ScottishPower and Shell off the northeast coast of Aberdeenshire. The project is being developed in water depths averaging 111 m and could deliver up to 3 GW of clean energy.

With the approval of Crown Estate Scotland, ScottishPower Renewables now has full control of MarramWind.

At the same time, Shell took control of the CampionWind project, which had also previously been progressed as a joint venture, and has confirmed that it has returned the CampionWind lease to Crown Estate Scotland, thus completing its exit from the floating offshore wind market.

CampionWind is 100 km from the east coast of Scotland, in water depths averaging 77 m, and could deliver up to 2 GW of clean energy.

A ScottishPower Renewables spokesperson said, “With sole responsibility for MarramWind – alongside our MachairWind project – we will now continue the development of these windfarms and maintain our positive engagement with local people and businesses.”
