Seatrium will modify and redeploy FLNG Hilli Episeyo for a 20-year gas liquefaction project in Argentina
Seatrium Ltd has secured a contract from Golar Hilli Corp, a subsidiary of Golar LNG Ltd, to upgrade the floating liquefied natural gas vessel (FLNG) Hilli Episeyo.
According to Seatrium, the vessel is scheduled to enter its yard in Q3 2026. The scope of work includes engineering and procurement of long-lead items, repair and life extension, and winterisation of the vessel. A new soft-yoke mooring system will also be installed.
Seatrium executive vice president, energy (Americas), Marlin Khiew, said the award reflected the strength of its long relationship with Golar.
He said FLNG Hilli Episeyo represented “a testament to the strong track record of the projects we have delivered to Golar over the years and reflects its confidence in Seatrium as a partner in the development, conversion and upgrading of high-quality, sustainable and robust production units”.
Once the work is completed, Hilli Episeyo will be redeployed to the Gulf of San Matias, offshore Rio Negro province, Argentina. There, it will liquefy gas from the Vaca Muerta shale formation in Neuquén province for 20 years.
The vessel has a nameplate capacity of 2.45M tonnes per annum and is expected to recommence operations in 2027. It was originally converted and delivered by Seatrium in 2017.
